# rim question

hey son. did a quick search and didnt find anything so im sorry if this has been answered in the past.

im getting another s-chassis and i have 2 lexus rims sitting at my shop that i want to just toss on till i can get good rims.

now i know that the bolt pattern and center bore need to be the same but the rims use toyota washer style lug nuts so the stud holes on the rim arnt tapered. will i still be able to use my nissan lug nuts or will it not work?

hey eric, for the distance you’ll be driving i’m sure tapered will hold up. it’s sort of like running tapered on steelies if you want to think of it that way. if you plan on driving it more than that then i would suggest getting the washer style.

or if you want i’ll just try to snag some toyota nuts for you. i’m 99% sure they’re 12x1.25.

from what i understant there are two types of wheel bolts/nuts (former euro guy)

ball seat - which is found on most OEM wheels

cone seat - most aftermarket wheels

what do s chassis use stock? i wouldnt know my car came with rims and cone nuts

ok. so nissan uses the tapered style lug like so

toyota uses the washer style like so

i looked up the thread pitch for the toyota lugs and they are 12x1.50.

now the taper is used to center the wheel properly onto the stud. but if you center the wheel properly and have the correct torque should it really make a difference?

centrebores are too small on the lexus wheels. IIRC they are 60.1 and your car is a 66.1

^yeah, try to roughly measure up the center bore. forgot to mention this. best is just to snag a pair of 5lug steelies. done.
