Sort of ot but, I just read my latest issue of Panorama and there was a short article about the U.S. FINALLY getting the GT3 RS!!! The last time we got one was 30 years ago. I had a replica of the RS.(A real 1973 RS now goes for $XXX,XXX.XX!!!) In usual gheyness we will not be getting the roll cage, carbon fiber seats or Plexiglas windows in the U.S.:roll2: We will be getting… Rearend 44mm wider than the GT3. CF front deck lid. Aggressive looking rear wing. Rear track widened (same wheels/tire though). Split rear wishbone and altered rear wheel carrier. RS is lighter than GT3. ---

The new GT3 RS is a fucking JOKE. It might as well be a slap in the face, kinda like how the USDM gets no sunroof delete. Thanks marketing! ---

That is the beauty of the car, NOT ONE other car has retained its looks like the 911 has. It has a cult following. Most long time Porsche guys disliked the 996, I think that is why it changed. ---

I was reading about this car a while ago in R&T and I guess the green “paint” is really just a decal or something like that. the car in the pictures is really black. ---

Yep, that’s correct, RUF needed a Green show car, and it was a customer car (Yellow actually IIRC). So they vinyled it up perfectly in green. ---

I’m talking about the GT3 not having a delete option for the hole in the roof, not having the Euro seats, now having the ROW suspension, the RS not having the Euro seats, ROW suspension, lexan windows, and ROW exhaust. I’m talking about PCNA being a money making machine and no longer the “we sell race cars for the street” company they once were. EVEN ON THE GT/RACE CAR MODELS. ---

I thought of this thread when I read this… Magnum PI The producers originally intended to use a Porsche 928 as ‘Magnum’s’ car and asked Porsche to produce one with an extra large sunroof for aerial shots. Due to a strict policy by Porsche of not doing any special specifications at customer request, the Ferrari 308 GTS was chosen instead and went on to become one of the most iconic cars of all time.
