# RX-7 V8 Swap?

Is this a common swap and what do you guys think about it? Does the car handle as well with all of the excess weight up front? Does the manual go in as well as the automatic?
Im aslo a big fan of the 240 V8 swaps.

That would be cool. They also have a fiero kit so you can put a cadi northstar in it. My STS ran 14.6 in the quarter, that motor in a lite car would rock.

An older guy that I work with has a plain jane looking Fiero with a 350 Crate in it. Thing scoots.
Thats along the lines im thinking. I love small cars with V8s, without getting a vega and putting a small block into it.
Biggest question I have about the whole concept is…does the car still handle as well as say turbo charged RX7? Im into drag but I also love to hot lap.😃

They also did some monster miatas awile back with 5.0 motors. I don’t think they had any handling issuze that I heard adout. Should be around the same weight and set up as a RX7:dunno: But I think the fiero mid engine, would be better balanced.

dave I had a site that had a few guys devoted to sticking LS1s and shit into old datsuns and 7s, I know that they had problems with the non turbo models rear ends and them being weak, and the rear motor mount or something breaking… I gotta find that page.

Mmm, sounds like fun! If I was going to go V8 in either a RX7 or Z car it’d have to be a LS1/6 w/ the T56. Being an all AL motor w/ a AL cased Tranny you wouldn’t loose the nice weight distribution of the cars (in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if a LS1/6 weighs less than a 240-280 straight 6).

should have ours hopefully done by somtime in summer
just kinda of a side project when we get time have the rx7 all gutted and ripped out!
just when extra cash it will start piecing it together!!
