# s13 ABS or no ABS?

hey guys,
dumb ass question…how do i know if my '89 s13 has abs or not? i need to get new rotors and pads and apparently it matters if it has abs or not…
is it as simple as: “IF YOU HAVE AN ABS LIGHT THEN YOU HAVE ABS, IF YOU DON’T, YOU DON’T HAVE ABS, DUMBASS!”😉

well you can try braking hard in rain you could hear if you have abs or a ticking feeling on your brake pedal…
im not sure if the sohc’s had abs…someone correct me if im wrong

Both Impact and Shift\_Krunk maybe you guys should
Google your answers before giving out false information.
All S13’s had the option of having ABS.
My 1989 Fastback for one had it.
As for checking if you have ABS you can do one of two things.
1. Check the master cylinder 2 Lines = ABS 3 Lines = NON-ABS
2. Check to the right of your Wiper motor if there is an ABS actuator
unit (Big Hunk of Brass with Brake Lines going in and out of it) then you
have ABS if there is nothing there just a big open space then you don’t

yeah, if my brakes didn’t pulse when i brake i can do option 1 (what impact said)…

just for the record, another way to tell if the car has ABS:
option 3:
Non ABS - rotor size 9 59/64"
ABS - rotor size 10 1/8"
