If you can trust one guy to do the most meticulous and detailed tear down ever, it would be Jimbo. I cant wait to see it track ready but the finished product (boosted motor and all) will be astonishing. Hopefully we will get to see a few fairly built 240s this summer (cough articzap cough)

So ive got a little bit of work done in the last week or so. here it is:
these are the old subframe bushings
theres two methods generally used when removing them, one is to burn out the rubber and cut the sleeve, the other is to cut both the sleeve and the rubber. I decided to cut both just to hopefully save on the mess.
after cutting the rubber around the inner sleeve, I pounded it out from the top
after that came cutting the outer sleeve, this was a pain in the ass in so many ways
After I got done with this I dedcided to press out the rear LCA ball joints. that was very easy. the RLCA bushings though are essentially the same design as the subframe but alot smaller and harder to deal with so I decided to burn the sleeves out and go from there.
yeah It would have been in my best interest to move that full can of paint before starting 👶

so anyways all that was about 2 days ago. I go to work on it today and decide the hell with cutting out bushing sleeves for hours on end _again_. I had been thinking about dropping the gas tank because I wanted to get the rear frame rails when I start seem welding in the near future. today I just decided to do it.
I had never done one before but it went pretty easy, most likely due to the lack of rust.
on an unrelated note, im thinking of buying a stud gun to pull out a few dents, anyone ever use one?

stud guns are awesome tools if you know how to use them properly without pulling the metal out too far,

props for going ka-t, i would reccomend a much bigger turbo than a t25, its a pea shooter turbo. At least go T3 60/63, this is a ka24

im not looking for some insane amount of power, I would be more than happy with 200 wheel. ive lived with 120 wheel for the past 4 years !
having a well sorted car that will actually make it to dunnville everytime is also more important to me than power.

no rele go at least t-3 you will b way better off. just are hittin 200whp with t-3’s on like 10lbs. n u have alot more displacement than the 2.0 that the come on

im looking to buy a cheap set-up that is also safe (no skimping on the tuning) but at the same time its the least of my concerns and I have many other things that I NEED to buy first to even get the car on the road. I guess ill cross that bridge when I come to it.

lets do it up so we can get that thing drifting. it doesnt matter if u have a turbo or not to do that. all you need is a good diff n some suspension.

You don’t need a T-3 if you only want 200whp, I mean I was putting down between 225-240 at 6psi with my T-3. I would imagine a T25 will be perfect for what you want.

The t25 on a 2.4 is gonna be such a lively setup especially on such low boost. t25 ftw

A nice t25 on a good tune will net you 225+whp, and we have done runs before from 0-100 and they are a ROCKET of the line instantaneous power boost almost off idle, funnn funnn car around town and basic. smoked just about everything around town except ls-1 equipped vehicles. 10lbs and a reliable dd. IMO

Ive dropped the whole front suspension and cross member to facilitate the seam welding and get the rest of the bushings and ball joints installed.
Before I started actually welding on the car I decided to start on some scrap that was 10 thou thicker than the cars metal. since this was my first time welding with solid wire + gas I didnt know what to expect but I LOVE it and would never go back to flux core.
Welding on the car was alot harder than butt welding the scrap together because the seams overlapped and it was a little more interesting to deal with the orientation of it all.
here is some of the first work I did

I definetly wouldnt charge you, the practice is good for sure. Im still an amature welder though (although most of my past experience is with flux core welding rusted out mufflers back on and ect… blah blagh 🎻)
but yeah I would definetly do it.

seam welding is the shit make sure u get around the doors and the hatch makes a huge diffrence

shweeeeeeeet…this S13 is sweet, the attention to detail is nuts. just lemme know what to buy for the pipes (custom exhaust maybe?) because i don’t know anything about different kinds of steel and how they’re welded.
