due to the stress that marine engines are under i would stay away from the larger stroke. Yoy can get plenty of HP with more reliability out of the stock stroke.

A marine engine is put under load for longer periods that a car engine, so I believe the compression should be a little lower, probably closer to how you would build a blower car. That way you can run regular gasoline without worrying too much.

except his profile says 23 years old so to drop 10k in a boat motor over one winter he must be doing something right. lol

My father had a boat with Twin 350’s mated to Cobra Outdrives.
Both motors were designed to run at 4300 rpm (and thats where they topped out) till the 150 gallon tanks ran dry.

I would stroke it and prop the boat for no more then maybe 4700. Build it like a stock car motor… for endurance. You should be able to cruise wide open safely for hours.

I believe that this engine will be a stroker. This guy also thought is was a good idea:
[http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=887661](http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=887661)

I would think he’d want a lower compression ratio than 10:1. We are thinking closer to 9:1.

</div>

Yup closer to 9:1 would be better for a boat motor.

Does the boat already have thru-hall exhaust? Or is it currently exhuasting in the water?

I guess going to college and getting a pretty decent job is doing something right.

But $10k, as much as it sounds, is not all that much to put into a boat. Marine stuff is not cheap…

Just go out on the river on a nice saturday or sunday in the summer. Look around and you will see $50-$100K boats ALL AROUND.

To buy something in stock form that is as fast as my boat would cost well over $100K. And I have around $30K into my boat, including the cost of the boat…

Based on the loading a marine engine see’s I would think its better lower too, since it really won’t make that much difference power wise, lower is safter especially with 87octane.

Both, captain’s choice through hull, made my IMCO. Very nice system, sounds awesome too! But can be quiet if you prefer :tup:
