# setting up a wireless printer

I am trying to set up a wireless printer but without a wireless internet and I have no idea how to do it even though the instructions say that it can be done without wireless internet but it does not tell u how. Has anyone had experience with them and know how to do it?

Well, from what you have said. It seems like you don’t need a wireless Internet Service Provider, but you will need some kind of wireless router… or I would imagine a wireless card on your PC.
Any info on the model of Printer? To see if it only receives wireless transmissions or can initiate contact both ways?
I’m quite the noob on wireless printers, but this would be the first place i would look

A printer is not a printer. Give the model and brand and maybe someone can help.

u have a wireless printer router? with mine all i did was install disk my comp imediatly found software and it prints fine.

The printer is a lexmark 3500-4500 series wireless printer.
The in structions say that it can be directly wirelessly connected without the use of a router. The laptop has builtin wireless and the printer has a built in printer server

I had it connected at first like it said and it only searched for a network, well it obviously didn’t find one and the program only gave me the option to have it conneted via usb

lol.
anyway so i guess i have to create an ad hoc network which i found out how to do…kinda everytime i go to create one after chosing a network name and stuff i hit next and it tells me that it cannot creat it and i dont know y??
