Anyways, sweet. I took an honors seminar from a PhD expert in lasers at UB my freshman year. The navy wanted him to develop something that could be used to weld cracks in the hulls of ships but he didn’t want to bring the security related issues of government funding to UB’s campus. He told a story once of a grad student who stuck his head in a piece of equipment that he didn’t think was working right, only to get a nasty burn line across his face from the laser that was in fact working properly. ---
