Paid time off = money.

I can’t imagine a worker at 8 years service getting more than 3-4 weeks vacation but there are extra days for the bullshit holidays. Still, the salary should still be lower than what you’d make at other places but I guess it depends on what you do.

I’d NEVER EVER work at the state. I’ve worked with too many to know.

6 weeks and 8 years of service doesn’t mix at all but that’s the state. Good for that guy.

I get 4 and I been in the business for a decade.

It really depends on the job. For IT, it’s not really worth the money. BUt, if you like doing nothing, go for it. However, the days of job security might be over given the state has no money.

If you have tenure your in. Theres money in IT, grade 18s start at like $45K and you get like 2-3K raises. That’s good dough for starting out. But it’s BORING. So boring. I work in IT, I chose to stay in the private sector, but im in a sales engineering related role now.
