No pics no care…this isnt a “build” thread until something gets built.
Post pics and maybe more people will get into the build but all this jib jabbin is a waste of time.

:lol: I sure hope it’s quick, I think a quick actual SHO would be better, but Good luck with this interesting build
Should have fun racing tho since it’ll obviously only be a 6, most poeple will think it’s a slow 3.8

1/4 mile (E.T.) 16.2 seconds @ 84 mph
considering the turbo sho ran a 12.79@108.i think the answer should be obvious

OMG i fell offfffff my f-ing couch when i read this!!:biglol:
My girlfriend and i watched this the other night cause i hadnt in forever, and she asked me why the floor fell… my response… its the movies…
On a side note… after building my Turbo Z34, which was definitely near the 400 wheel mark… i really wanted to pick up a v6 camaro or firebird and swap my 3.4 DOHC from my lumina into it, and get rid of the T4-T70 for a couple of t/3-t/4 turbos… My lumina was sick, but fwd blew…
With 7500 rpm, and 15 lbs, it woulda been pretty cool and some what of a sleeper till i hit the go pedal down.
:tup: on a unique build idea… :tdown: on a ford (yamaha) engine.
A quick vid on inside my turbo Z34 for those who havent seen it. Towards the end is a good pull from 70-130. too bad it was only 10lbs at the time. i never got to tune it at 15 before i sold it. ☹

I would venture to say the SHO engine is better than the 3.4 DOHC. The 3.4 was GM’s 60\* v6 (3.1) with a bore job and rigged up DOHC heads. That engine in OHV and DOHC form had some cooling issues from inception (~82) through the 90s. The Yamaha build SHO was a clean sheet design that had forged internals stock. If he’s looking to boost it, the SHO is a better choice over the 3.4.
Personally, I would have just went with an LS1. Unless he got the motor and related parts ridiculously cheap.
:tup: for something different, i guess. Hope it turns out well.

engine, tranny adapter and transmission cost $350 + the price of a torque converter and the required bolts
i forget what the car cost, but it came w/ a t56 that can be resold, along w/ all the interior thats not going back in
cage was the usual 1500 or w/e
the turbo sho, if parted, will be lending its fuel system, BOV, WG, Tweecer, datalogger, wideband, ported intake, cams, oil system and misc other stuff
lt1 motor mounts will be reused, theres a set of 1/2 ss flanges floating around
All of the steel needed to mount the engine / tranny / reinforce the suspension is already in my possession (free) and any SS flat / angle can probably be had free also.
tig welding the SS intake and exhaust pipe will be next to nothing
so obviously were off to a pretty good start 🙂

turbo400, picked up from a forum member more then a year ago
the T56 alex has is an LT1 model so it would require a ls1 bellhousing / input shaft / clutch / associated parts just to do a test fit, so for the moment its just gonna sit

should use a TH350, TH400 will suck up more power and is overkill for the power this combo is going to make

that 15hp isnt gonna make or break the project. and with the sho’s tranny probs the extra stength of the th400 is welcome.
besides, i already have it, and its recently rebuilt, so for now its going in the car
