Shrek’s trip to the big city went well, Got to Innovative a little early but Mike and the guys got right to it. Started out wiring up the wideband and then set the timing. After a few little concerns were addressed we took it for a spin. Went easy on the motor while street tuning due impart b/c the motor only had about 15 miles on it and I hadn’t changed the oil yet. So got the tune and made another appointment for Thursday. I changed the oil Saturday morning then put on plenty of breaking miles over this weekend! Im going to change the oil again and check the valve clearance. I also ordered a few gauges ( water temp and oil pressure ) that Im hopping to have here and installed by Thursday.
:tup: to Mike for tuning me even though he was sick!
Sucks I had to trailer it home…
Thursday we will set the boost controller and do some more street tuning before hitting the dyno!

It’s temporary just so it wouldn’t blow on the radiator.

Bought a mechanical water temp gauge, where is the best place to install this at? I was thinking since Im not using the fan switch I could take the reading from there?

what if you got an adaptor fitting where the water temp sensor is, that has 3 sides, one side to go in the thermostat and 2 other fittings you can put the sensor and gauge in to?

I have three choices that I know of. The first is I can tap into a coolant line either the top radiator hose or one of the smaller one but I would have to find, buy or make some sort of T. The other would be either tap into the water passage I blocked off that went to the heater or since I’m not using the fan switch I can use that port. I’m leaning towards the port that went to the heater but now I need to fine a M20x1.0 male to 5/8"-18UNF female adapter
Maybe I can get a piece of steal pipe, turn the out side to 20x1 and tap the inside to 1/2NPT, only thing how would I install it with out have a hex on it?
Or
Maybe I can take #8 cut it after the hex and tap it to the 1/2NPT?
Any ideas?

Nothing ever just goes together, I bought a electric gauge but I still need to go from standard to metric…
I’m determined to know my water temp!!!
Does my ECU need to know the coolant temp? If not couldn’t I just use that port?
What is the TW sensor?

y dont you just splice into your rad hose? take a piece of pipe, drill a hole, tap or weld a fitting on with some pipe sealant, and call it a day

Do you know what the ID of the radiator hose is? Or can I just buy a pipe only a few inches long at home depot? Also if I just drill and tap a hole would there be enough material in the pipe to do so or would I have to weld on bung or what not?

^ yah just find a pipe that fits your rad hose. the chop the rad hose and insert your pipe with the fitting then put some clamps on it. thats how we do it on all of our 240’s. we also put them in the bottom hose becuase the factory one runs off the top so u have a temp reading out of both hoses.

I agree about using the bottom hose, also if you have a thermostat malfunction

for sure thats y we do it like that. nothing like running super duper hot and your gauge still reads normal. my factory gauge in my s14 doesnt start moving up to hot till my water temp see’s about 230
