> Because if it’s an “off-road” vehicle you obviously dont need to register it through transport Canada…therefore you wont find anything in the Highway or Importaion acts. You can trailer it wherever the hell you want so long as you dont operate it on public roadways…kinda like a lawn tractor, a go-cart, or your sister…

Lawn tractor like a riding lawn mower? If so you’re right, no requirements… go-cart is not a vehicle according to the Transport Canada Vehicles Chart. All I asked was for someone to show me where it said it can be imported…

Yes, you obviously don’t need to register it, but it will also not be cleared by Customs…

Well no offense to Krimzen but how do you figure his is a steal @ 18gs ? I’d buy the signal car way before his because it probably actually has 18gs into it “if not more” I highly doubt Krimzen has got a total of $18gs into his Car…

Would be like be saying okay… I really only got like $7gs into mine but since F&F3… I want double ? Never gonna happen and if anyone would spend $18gs on that car their crazy (again, no offense direct @ him) but many people on this forum could build a car along the exact same lines for half the price

Not really, SON doesn’t understand how much certain mods cost to do.
For example, just my transmission shit:
ACT Street Disc & Heavy Duty P-Plate - 600 bucks
Fidanza 11lb Flywheel - 400 bucks
Braided SS Clutch line 40 bucks
B&M Short Shifter - 275 bucks
If you told anyone on here that you’ve spent over a thousand dollars on tranny upgrades, they’ll call you crazy.

That’s the point dip and I are trying to make. So long as you agree to keep it off of public roadways (via the signed declaration) you can do with it as you please. Track it, take it off sweet jumps in your moms backyard, hard park it in your garage, whatever.

The ammendment: Note: A souped-up Porsche or Trans-Am is not a competition car and would be subject to the requirements outlined for a passenger car

Is stated to prevent “Joe Iroc” from driving his “competion car” on the street without propper licencing.

You CAN import the car (with the written declaration) because it’s now not subject to Can. traffic laws. Of course you’d have to pay taxes and duty the same as any other item comming over the border.

I can understand where you are coming from…

I’ve got about $650-$700 into my Tranny alone… but if I was to sell my car I would not mark it up thousands of dollars… If I had $7000 into it and sold it for $8000 I would be happy… I got my money back plus a grand and I was able to enjoy the car for a 2 year period

But for me to say I’ve only got $7gs into it but I want $14gs is just plan crazy

You are not making points, you are making assumptions. I’ve made points with actually showing you where I have found information. Yes, at first glance of the site I thought maybe it could enter but…

Look at the definition of a competition car “A four-wheeled vehicle **designed for use exclusively** in closed-course competition.”, then take the fact that the CBSA is not going to list all sorts of cars, but simply give exmaples of what people might consider to be a competition car and put all that together and this car dosen’t qualify… off road or not… Not 15 years plus, not entering Canada. It is a passenger car by definition and is subject to the requierments there of.

Again, With no a\*\*hole under-tone implied, please let me know if you have found anything different. This is something I would love to be wrong about!

I don’t really doubt that it is marked up unnecessarily, but I was trying to point out that some stuff adds up without people being aware of it.

Just got off the phone w/ Transport Canada…may as well go to the source

A vehicle less then 15 years old can be imported from Japan as long as the following is met,
1- it can be a passenger car but…
a-there are no more side windows
b-gutted interior (check)
c-slicks
d-racing seat and harness (check)
e-roll cage (check)
f-no turn signals or lights (huh… wierd, at first this was looked at like a concern!! check)

2- The importer must be part of a recognized santioned racing circuit/league/organization and have a letter of good standing. It can’t be imported for hobby use. Must be used in competition.

So it is hopeful…but all this has to be believed by the CBSA before they will release and I would suggest talking to the port of entry long before importing.

The above was given over the phone and I am sure that there is more to it, but that is the just of it from a 2 minute conversation.

Now, are Drift Mania, CSCS, Solo1/2 ect acceptable??? that’s my next question…

Uggh. Ok, I’ll make my point one last time then shut up. Given that a) whomever buys this car will be treating it as a “competition vehicle” there are methods of importing it as such.

[http://www.transportcanada.com/roadsafety/importation/pre/menu.htm#Competition\_](http://www.transportcanada.com/roadsafety/importation/pre/menu.htm#Competition_)

D. Competition Vehicles

If your vehicle is a “competition vehicle”, as defined in the regulations, you must obtain a letter directly from the manufacturer, stating that the vehicle was designed exclusively for competition use, listing the design characteristics of the vehicle that exclude it from normal use, and listing the race sanctioning body it was designed for. If you are not on the pre-clearance system, you may submit the letter to TC prior to shipment, along with photos of the vehicles (or a web site address that has clear photos of the vehicles in question). This same information can be supplied in a Stage 1 application, if the competition vehicles are to be pre-cleared in a shipment along with other vehicles. When TC is satisfied, using the letter and photographs, that the vehicles are in fact “competition vehicles”, **the vehicles will not need further compliance** , such as a bilingual label, since true competition vehicles are **not regulated**. Stand-alone shipments of competition vehicles are not processed through the pre-clearance program.

Now, what that means is once you provide evidence from the seller (in this case Signal Auto) that the vehicle was built and used for competition purposes, and that YOU the buyer intend to use it for those same purposes you may then import the vehicle. After that the only other legal stipulations you’d encouter would be in relation to fuel usage under gov’t guidlines.

There are other methods of importing a vehicle of this nature, those being dissassembly and re-assembly, or conditional permits.

Do not assume that I am making assumptions. If you’d care to take your research farther than just one gov’t web page than you’d find that there are methods of importing “grey market” cars such as this. If you are truly serious about doing so take the time and talk to a Customs/Import lawyer who would glady provide you with additional information.

I think Sarcasm should be some kind of offence. I mean dont get me wrong, it is great inr eal life, but ti just causes too many arguments and fights when you cant hear the tone in someone’s voice.

LOL, i understood the sarcasm right away, but some people clearly didnt.

Thank you for letting me know who the seller is… and that if I was actually looking to buy this car that I would be the buyer. But as stated in my first post, I found this car at Signal and I have no intentions on actually buying it

I was asking to be proved wrong, not is a jerk/sarcastic way, but in a “It would be really cool if someone in Canada was able to buy it.”. I was looking at it in a questionable manner, I was interpreting what I was reading. No I didn’t get everything all at once, I was piecing it together and in the end I posted what I found. You just came off like a jerk that couldn’t be bothered and that this was basic stuff.

I said that you were making assumptions becuase nothing you posted had anything behind it… It wasn’t until your last post did you put anything up… I put things up so they could be referanced . If someone is actually going to import this thing, or another one down the road, it is nice to have something other then “some guy on a car-club web-site said I could” to back them up.

I’m not mistaken, importing vehicles has not been discussed beyond a passenger car.

If you read this or not, could matter less to me… and I don’t have a sister…but thanks.

Lol, those rules were tossed out a long time ago. It wouldn’t be SON without the bitchiness and smart asses.

In my own defense I wasn’t trying to be jerk. Often times sarcasm is missinterpreted. Just ask Osad!..see how all these threads are tying together now? 😉

And I wasn’t reffereing to YOUR sister. I don’t descriminate. All of SON’s sisters’ are invited out for a ride. Now lets all relax and have a Flakey.
