# Silly Question maybe....

My explorer is throwing an evap code.
Upon closer inspection it appears that the part where the gas cap actually screws to has a crack in it.
I have no idea what this part is called…I don’t think its part of the filler neck and I definetly doesnt come as part of the gas cap.
Any thoughts?

Def would throw a code in my experiences, a year or so ago my dd’s gas filler neck rust through and the whole in the tube threw an EVAP code.

looks to be a craked filler neck. You could try sealing it w/ silicone install the cap clear the code and see if it returns. Filler necks are sooo common these days

I was thinking that…any suggestions for an epoxy or type of silicone? esp in these temps?

Napa sells a sweet 2 part epoxy that sets in 5 mins. i’d go with that. Remember an EVAP leak can be as small as .020 in.

Looking at that filler neck, i’d suggest you look farther down to make sure the rest of the neck is good. That isnt that difficult of a neck to replace (i dont think, pat??)
