The first option is correct based on the American Heritage Dictionary: _One of two or more words that have the same sound and **often** the same spelling but differ in meaning, such as bank (embankment) and bank (place where money is kept)._ Often, but not a rule. However, the people who chose #2 are all totally wrong. ---
