not so much if anything hurt it as your in the trq band of the motor ,kinda like droppin the clutch at 3500 on a stick car =burnout depending on car

Yes, the advantage being gettin out of the hole quicker if you can put the power to the ground.

When my trans was stock and on its was out(o/d shit the bed) i ran a [12.6@112](mailto:12.6@112). With the rebuilt trans and converter i went 11.82@112
