I can drink and drive just fine. Does it make it right?

There is a legal limit with alcohol because you can measure/quantify intoxication, however there is no way to effectivly measure intoxication while smoking (maybe a lab could measure but not a police officer… ). If it was legal to smoke, but illegal to drive while under the “influence” there would be no such thing as an exception. You couldn’t argue to the police officer “it calms my nerves”… That’s weak.

Thanks. Cell phones and other such distractions are more dangerous behind the wheel. Every time you answer your phone or fiddle with your stereo you are endangering the lives of yourself and others. All it takes is one person who can’t multitask. I hope when you run over the family and pregnant mother because you are changing stations you’re ‘but sir I really hate that song!’ excuse holds up in court or the ‘it was an important call from my bud’ works on the cop.

Just pointing out the folly in your post. There is no situation where you are taking 0% risk, everything in life is measured risk. Hell … if you never want to run some over, get on public transit.

It doesn’t bother me if your offended. However much cell phone’s distract drivers, it’s temporary unlike being high. So actually, the 1min 10sec’s it may take me to make a call compared to the 30-40mins you’ll be high is far less dangerous.

Some states have made talking on cell’s while driving a traffic offence. Ontario has considered adopting this legislation, iirc…

Well, even thouhg you are only on the fone for like 30 seconds, it only takes a second of distraction to get into an accident right? So whether you’re drinking, smoking, talking on the cell phone while driving. It’s still a risk. It’s just that some risks are more stupid. Like drinking and driving obviously.

> Yea what is going on in K-W. All you guys getting random acts of Nissan Violence. Makes me scurred to go there. And if somebody is gonna go up and do this to Hector and the beast that he is who knows what they’d do to me. That’s why I don’t commit felony you know what they do to guys like me in prison. :ncool:

fuck the dude was drunk and stoned out of his mind , he didnt do it on purpose and i know that , but what he did do is run after the mistake , but at the same time i know he ran cuz he was scared and he had every right to be cuz i would be in jail right now and that is forsure , and that is why i called the police , and in all honesty its the first time i can remember making a wise decision in a case like this.

and the reason he ran is because he knows me and knows i have a very bad temper problem, and he should thank my freind Jessica because her and her 1 1/2 year old son wouldnt let go of me to go after this guy cuz she knows i wont show any kind of anger around her son.

this guy will pay either way , and no fault only applies when insurance information is swapped , in a hit and run case like this it shows fault especially when alcohol is involved

Yeah Hector’s thread is getting hijacked for sure. Sorry hector definetly sucks what happened to you … complete BS and people like that should be run over.

Just for the record I will give you guys a quick summery of Health Canada’s investigation into marijuana and driving:

Low doses of cannibus = no measurable change in driving performance.
High doses:

1. Drive more slowly, respond to traffic signals more quickly.
2. Leave greater headway between the car in front and themselves
3. Less likely to take an oppertunity to pass a car in front of them
4. Tend to leave the center of the lane more often.

According to their survey: 40% of cannibus users with a license have driven within two hours of smoking. So if it really was that dangerous you’d think we hear a bit more about it …

My real problem is with people who have never tried something that have so much to say on the topic … you are going on 2nd hand information … and if your only source is a random anti-drug website don’t bother (espically if you disregard the more credible health canada website).

If you’ve never smoked and driven before and want to imagine what it’s like: next time you are driving ease off the car in front of you, get back down to the speed limit, pay more attention to signals and traffic lights, don’t bother trying to pass other cars doing the limit, and don’t worry about staying in the exact center of the lane.

People who equate that with drinking and driving come on now … Besides the people who just have a drink or two and then go drive … even if you are under the legal limit you are still a million times the worse driver then someone who is high.

/rant … this thread is done soon i can feel it

Or … you know, do that all the time.

If you need to be high to drive properly, then get off the road.

You guys sure like to try and justify what you do, but really that’s all it is: justifiction with no solid grounds. Who cares if it changes your otherwise _more_ dangerous driving habits? Fact is, you still need to learn how to drive safely, and the best state in which to do that is sober.

I’ll re-iterate what’s been mentioned.

Ignoring the fact that it’s illegal to begin with…

Even if you’re right, and it doesnt hamper your driving (depending on the amount), there is no question that it does hamper driving in some people. Would you be comfortable on the road knowing everyone else was high? Would you walk your kids on a sidewalk?

Our government may be stupid, but it’s not _that_ stupid. Pot is illegal for good reason. It’s not because of old values, look where we are now: gays can be married, all races treated equally (at least by the government)… so what’s left? Maybe the fact that even if you can handle it, it’s still a dangerous substance. You can’t change laws for the few.

Driving while high may not be as dangerous as driving while drunk, but it most certainly is more dangerous than while sober. I don’t care if it makes you drive slower, or mellows you out: your reaction times are reduced, and you’re not the only driver on the road. Accidents _will_ happen where they would have otherwise been avoided.

you have to also realize there is different levels of being stoned.

you can be anything from feeling tingly to not being able to talk right.

if someone else can tell you are stoned you should not be driving.

what about being tired.

its the same thing

im sure all of you have driven tired, so that makes your reaction slower.

this is a stupid topic. there is no right or wrong answer

just like someone can have a beer and feel buzzed and shouldnt be driving even though its legal to.

there are some people that can drink 5 beers and not feel anything.
