# So I went out to get a gallon of milk and came back with this:

i’m not saying that it’s going to physically break… i’m just saying that processing speed will die out after a couple hours of uptime… and (just like evreyone else) i’m going to assume your actions, and assume you don’t shut down daily.
so on day 5 of a celeron, you’re going to see latency with teh most minimal tasks
at least now you can partition the drive and save data to an info store and reformat that bitch on a monthly basis.
it’ll work fine for you.

nah I dont usually restart, but rebooting once every couple of days isnt gonna kill me. And I have a 40GB HD I can yank from my old computer if I need to. It has most of my shit on it.

when it comes to computers it seems like everyone know the right answer even though they don’t work in the field… i would not comment on a stone mason’s work because i know he does it every day. it would be nice one day for someone not to second guess my opinions/facts

I agree.
Celerons are poop. But, for what he wants, I guess it will do. I am sure there were better deals to be found if one shopped around (HP/Dell/Sony), but it is his money. I have built a few computers for around that price, and they had alot faster stuff. I have seen a few E-machines die, but I tend to stay far away from them. If you wanted a cheap puter you should have contacted some of the people on here that work in that area. I know I have built quite a few sytems for my friends. I usually just ask for a drink at the bar in return. Now fixing them is something I wont do for free anymore. Goodluck with that beast.

I did. I didnt feel like waiting anymore so I went and bought one. Its working great so far. And when I go to put down some real money and do it right then Whitey and the bunch are the first ones I’ll ask (as always).

I am seriously tired of the tech snobs bashing the Celeron.
Celeron is the Faygo of CPUs. It’s not as good as Coke, but if you only have 33 cents and you’re thirsty, you can live with it.
Mike, my mom has almost the exact same model. It has no problem running a P2P, browsing the web, playing City of Heroes (with the Radeon 9250 I put in for $40), et cetera. When you get down to it, it’s not a great PC, but if you’re doing all the same things you were doing on your 450, you will be happy enough.
