Thor Motocross Dirtbike gloves (I shouldnt wear these ever but I wear them ALOT, they wouldnt do much if I had a bad wreck, but most of the time when I wear them, I’m just cruising)
Shoei RF-1000 Helmet
I have other helmets and a joe rocket textile suit too, but they are all pretty hammered and have been retired to passenger gear now.

I have these too, before i had heated grips, 40 degree night riding would be freezing so I bought these bad boys to keep my hands warm, they did ok. Ill stick to my heated grips now. I dont think Id ever buy anything from ICON again, I just dont like the idea of motorcycle fashion being more important than protection. (for the price though, they were the cheapest/warmest combo I could find :tup:)
EDIT: yes they are truly the bulkiest glove i’ve ever worn. It sucked trying to have any throttle control while wearing them, mine are all black too. which for some reason makes them look even bulkier than the white ones pictured

over the past year I probably have 4k in motorcycle gear (MSRP)
It can definitely be done on a tighter budget but for those who want to get into it.
Figure 200+ for a cheap leather jacket(teknic,AGV, etc etc), 150 for an hjc helmet, 50 for a cheap gauntlet glove and 150 for a decent motorcycle boot.
~600 bucks if you want to buy new.
My suggestion for those who want to buy a brand new 600, DONT.
dont buy new, save the depreciation, get a 1 year old bike and extend the warranty for 400 bucks _4 years, unlimited mileage with kaw_ or just find one with an extended warranty. 06 636’s will still be warranteed to 2011 if the owner opted to extend the warranty on it. DOOOO it.
That is your best deal. A year old bike, with the usual mods already installed, thousands under current retail for same year. This is what I did, your budget needs to be 5k+ for a good, never down, modded up year old SS. I also extended the warranty and am good until 2012 Warranty also was used last year and already paid itself off
if your budget is less, buy an older bike that you like. You dont need the newest technology, and just an fyi, the newest technology is more costly when you have to pay retail to get it fixed after you wreck it.

plain black leather jacket… just a t-shirt if its too hot out(rarely), jeans, black timberland steel toes, flat black beanie helmet, gloves when its cool, leather face mask when its cold.

Are boots really worth it? I understand the breaking ankles and stuff but I couldn’t imagine walking around in them.
Willy: good info :tup: I opted for the 07 CBR because that’s the year they changed it around and made it lighter… plus, it’s over a year old so I’m avoiding the major depreciation.

I love my rf1000 helmet
and yes, the boots are absolutely worth it. I’ll post a link of what feet can look like even when people wear steel toed boots/tims, its not somwething id wear to a bar though. they squeak badly lol.
