Good work. Got me a 20" LCD monitor because of a $0.75 cap. You want a challenge… I have a wireless mic setup that i’m trying to fix. There is a short from +out on Vreg to ground somewhere and I don’t have access to the lab I used to work in ☹ I would gladly transfer the beer I would have recieved to you 😃 ---

Outside of visual inspection and pinning I would not be able to find it. No X-ray. I could try though. ---

No worries… I find SMT caps really easy to remove with a 45W solering iron that has a 1/4 wide tip 😉 ---

What about those awesome ceramic thermal boards… use a 50W with a broad-tip @ 750+… hold it there 2 minutes… and the solder still won’t melt… LOL! ---

We actually figured that out! R&D was up to a 80W iron, 3/8" tip, and 850°F tip temp. On the line we use, 40W iron, conical heater, 1/4" tip, and 650°F tip temp…they solder beautifully. ---
