Easy there Fat kid, do you even own a 240sx because we still haven’t seen it.

Peice of cake you say huh?..deal![/quote]

well if ur lazy ass would have come to the kitchener meet u could have come to my house to witness the greatness

oh and fro the record my ka-t has been done for under 2000, all new parts too, that includes turbo, manifold, ic, ic piping,SS 3 inch exhaust and down pipe, hks s-afr, apexi sitc, rebic IV, hks turbo timer, 5th injector(770cc), 370cc primarys, and profec B boost controller, and bov.

> I never said SR will beat it. Infact, I’m pretty sure KA will come out on top with the same amount of money put in. What I did say, is that the 7K 260whp vs 7k 400whp scenario is VERY untrue.
>
> SR - 2500 for the engine
> KA - 300 for the engine, but you still need to turbocharge it somehow. A stage1, 7psi kit goes for about 2600USD+shipping+customs, to be generous, lets take that to be only 3000CAD (which it’ll surely exceed). At this point, the KA WILL lay down more power than the SR. I’ve seen dynos for 230whp at this point, where as SR will be pushin like 170whp.
>
> But when you get into the $7K range, you can replace that old worn out turbine on your SR with a nice new one, you’ll be running bigger injectors, a SAFC, a beefy intercooler, etc… Doing internals on the KA is still gonna cost money, and you’re gonna need the same upgrades I listed on the SR (except for turbine, KA guy got a nice turbine to begin with)
> My point is, they’ll lay down almost the same power, but the **KA will have quicker spool, a better curve, be more responsive, etc…** The only point I’m trying to make is that one should argue FAIRLY as opposed to pissing all over the opponent. I do think KA-T is a better performance option, but the SR is by no means shit.

There is a lot of miss-information in that post. For example, why will the ka spool faster? I would think it would be the opposite…

Jantos post about 7k into each one is not with the ka-t or sr being home built.

Notice how nobody with an SR actually in their car is defending it?

ka-t boys are representing though.

The KA will spool faster b/c of a displacement advantage, assuming identical turbines. If the KA was running a significantly bigger turbo and SR was on the stock T25, it would be the opposite, just as you said.

can u be 100% sure when u say that ? have u flow tested the heads ? have u checked how well the ka will flow as compared to the sr ? how do u know that just soley based on the fact that the ka is bigger that it will spool faster? have u put into account intercooler sizing, piping lenth and diamiter? manifold design ?have u maybe read the compressor maps for ta stock t25 and noticed that it does not flow enough lbs/hr to support a ka at high rpm? what about base timing advance ? u know those all come into account as well right ? did u even check compression raito’s?

what would be your opinion of significantly bigger turbo ?pt 72?

I’ll wait for you to respond to Hector before I continue to argue… how many SRs do you know running non t2 series turbos? Not many. I on the other hand know almost no ka-ts running any turbos smaller than a t3 series turbo. :gtfo:

I have a N/A KA with a bad clutch, SRs can’t compete with me, I’m the KING of wood 😃

can u be 100% sure when u say that ? **yup** have u flow tested the heads ? **nope** have u checked how well the ka will flow as compared to the sr ? **nope** how do u know that just soley based on the fact that the ka is bigger that it will spool faster? **Chemistry my good man, chemistry!** have u put into account intercooler sizing, piping lenth and diamiter? **Nope, I said that all things being equal, the KA will spool better, if you do start taking these things into account, you’re dealing with a SPECIFIC KA-T vs. a SPECIFIC SR.** manifold design ? **See previous** have u maybe read the compressor maps for ta stock t25 and noticed that it does not flow enough lbs/hr to support a ka at high rpm? **Nope.** what about base timing advance ? **Nuh-uh.** u know those all come into account as well right ? **Yes, when dealing specifics, not in general terms** did u even check compression raito’s?
**Ehh… I suppose you have a point here, but the compression ratios aren’t so different as to produce a LARGE heat difference and give an edge to the smaller motor, the volume flow of the KA will still beat it out.**

what would be your opinion of significantly bigger turbo ?pt 72?
**One that isn’t almost the same… I dunno? I don’t study turbines in detail**

Aaaanyway… Bigger displacement, more air, therefore more fuel, this means more exhaust gas. This means if you stuck something (a turbine) on the back end, it would spin up earlier. If you were using different turbines, had different pipes in between, all these things can change, but if you were using the SAME things, KA spool \> SR spool.

Edit: And props on your KA-T setup, but you just proved my point. That was 100% hookups, almost none of those items cost that little in reality. What if I had a cousin that gave me an SR clip, a HKS GT-RS, a Blitz LM fmic, PowerFC, 550cc injectors, etc… for $20 bucks? Don’t I then have an SR putting out 300whp for $20?

Andrews point get’s proven right here. It is cheap to do a KA-t if you either fab everything your self or if you get a bunch of freebies or if you do all the work your self like Hector did (and nothing against Hector for doing his own work, all the power to him and God bless him that he has that skill and knowledge to do all those things him self, I wish there were more people like him around). But for the average guy who has most his work done at a shop because he can’t do all the work him self it is not so cheap. Hector did all/most the work him self or helpers and he even got a few freebies and it still costed him $2000.00 I know guys that bought SR’s for $2000.00 / $2500.00

Anyway this thread is tiring me out we can sit here all day and go back and forth with this so this will be my last post on this thread.
-I still believe the SR is the best bang for the $

- No matter which engine you go with (SR20DET or KA-T) they can both be made to go very fast and one faster then the other, it’s all a matter of how much time and money you are will to put into it.
-RB26 owns us all
PERIOD.

I think you’re closed minded, talk a lot of smack and don’t respect other people’s opinions. Someone is already doing a VQ30 into a 240, so we’ll talk about how much of a ricer I am when he’s done. Man… putting in a lighter higher-displacement motor with excellent potential is SUCH rice… That’s like altezza lights.
