> I’ve never been this bad about it before but ever since I graduated high school and started working I just havent made any attempts to go on a regular basis. Like, I only ever go on religious holidays like christmas and easter and new years but I suddenly have this need to go to church. :hs: Does anyone else who never goes ever think about it sometimes?

i feel ya. i skipped out for about 6 years straight and started up again last year. feels good when you choose to go and you’re not forced.

If you feel the need to goto church, then go. I don’t quite understand the reasoning behind it, as you can just look deep into yourself for the answers you want and don’t have to rely on someone telling you what you should think. If you think you are stuck, have no future, hate your job, or anything else the answer is not to go pray for it to change, but to go out and change it yourself.

believing in god was opposite for me, I felt stuck when I believed. Now that I know there is nothing out there deciding my future, I can do the things I need to do to help me get by, and not base my decisions on the beliefs of other people who got theirs from a 2000 year old story. my $.02

I went to church one time only. I was on vacation with my friend’s family who is very Christian. Out of respect I went to their service with them (they even attended a church out of state while on vacation… thats how intense they are). Anyways, its definitely not for me. I choose to beleive in other things. Namely things that are real. I think alot of people who go are looking for faith in general. To have true faith in something is a good feeling. But that also brings to mind something a friend of mine told me… if you want something to have faith in, have faith in yourself.

I think we all go through times where our faith is tested, and we fall away. Its funny though, because in most cases the things that bring us back to God are usually much larger and more impactful than the things that let us slip away. I used to be a sunday school teacher, and a youth Leader, and then i let it go for a while. I’m going to college this fall to be a Youth Pastor. Its time for me to make a change in my life…no more dead-end jobs and worrying about what my life is all about. We all have a place and purpose, and mine happens to be helping others, especially our youth. It’s not about money for me anymore…its about purpose

you can have purpose and help people and be completly devoid of religion. I had an athiest-Jew shrink when I was in high school. We got to talking about religion and he said something to me that really hit home:

Who is a better man, a man who does good deeds and lives a good life because he belives in god and wants the prize for doing so, or the athiest who lives a good life and does good deeds simply because he thinks its the right thing to do.
