Okay, here’s my problem: I’ve got a '90 240SX hatch that I bought which already included an Alpine CDM-9821 head unit. As far as I know, the antenna is disconnected since I can see the antenna plug sticking out of the plastic panel near the parking brake. I haven’t taken the deck out yet, since I’m not sure how to take it out exactly (without breaking any tabs or clips like I did with the rear end of the car). I’ve recently got a great deal on a Sony CDX-GT410 head unit (the one with USB and auxiliary, aka iPod connectivity). The only problem I see is that the wires have been cut. There’s still lots of wire sticking out, with a bit of is stripped, either for crimping into but connectors or soldering to an adaptor. I wanted to ask, what would I need to do in order to take out my old one and properly install the new one in? My car’s got stock speakers, but those will be upgraded later (along with wires), but for now, lets just stick with the head unit. Thanks - Mik ---

^ i can do it man, up to you though you want to pay $20 for something that is just stripping a wire then joining them, use that money for gas and we’ll do it. Solder it and crap. ---

dont be afraid of breakin clips… the panel that goes over the shifter and covers the cd deck just pops off… i like to start by working the top until the clips are out, then the very bottom then pull until the center ones come out. either auto or standard there both the same. the rest is very evednt when there screws that may be to the left and right holding the bracket in, some just even slide right out… depends on how it was installed… for installing your new unit get a PIN code sheet for the wireing and go to it… one warning… there is a blue wire with a yellow strip(if memory serves me correctly) it shouldn’t be connected to anything on an Aftermarket deck make sure the und is taped and it dosent touch anything… if it gets grounded to steel or surged with power it will blow your TCU and your dash lights wont work… ---

you can try it but some times back there can be tricky and not so much of a plug and play. my old s13 when i wired in the deck with the kit my dash lights didn’t work and so on and so forth, it can turn into a disaster. i know people who have put there’s in with a kit and still have the power on a switch from a battery lead. if you don’t know what your doing don’t play with it. mechanical things can be replaced wiring is always another story. take to to some1 who you know can do it right and show you how to do it right and trouble shoot. i had to spend 3 hours fixing my buddies because the tail lights stopped working, dash lights didn’t work wipers didn’t ect… s13s are complicated like that… randy, no offence but if you thought that your maf was fucked because your car didn’t rev over 3k and you didn’t bother to check the throttle cable, or that an inch of bondo on your rockers was a oem side skirt than i wouldn’t trust you to so much as look at my car. never the less work on it. i suppose everyone has to start somewhere tho… long and short of it, take it to anyone (buddies, shop ect…) that can show you how to do it the right way and not turn it into a birds nest… PS. electrical fires do happen and they suck. ---

Well, fastback if you think frigen flying down streets just because you think your gangster with ur frigen sr so be it, just please dont bring a bad name to our cars thanks.Oh BTW my neighbor called the cops on you, as they saw you when u put the sticker on my car, and burned the tires and the other shit u pulled. So watch out for the cops. And the reason i thought about the maf, and what not was because Soners told me it might be that, also remember i didnt have much knowledge back then. Lastly stop being a cheap piece of crap, and stop making ppl pay for stupid crap. ---

Or just bring it to Ajax Future Shop and ask for Bruce or Brian. Tell them MTX matt said then can help and then you have lifetime coverage on the install ---

I wouldn’t take a fukin Lada to futureshit to install an FM mod for an ipod either learn to do it yourself, get someone you know to do it or even pay a real stereo shop to do it but for the the love of god please don’t take futureshop/best buy ---
