# Special tool for e30 needed

This may be a long shot, but anybody have the special tool for holding the crankshaft for an e30 (m20) i could borrow for the day. I ran out of tricks and it wont budge. Thanks.

trying to take the balancer off to change the water pump, timing belt. etc…

can’t you put it in 5th gear and shove an extension through the driveshaft universal joint?

Less stress on the universal joint. You’re loading it kinda weird by jamming something through it, so I’d think you’d wanna keep that force down…

I have one. Ordered it from Pelican Parts when nothing else seemed to work. Still had to put a jack handle over the tool and use an impact gun to take off that bolt, sucker is on there tight.

I woulda thought that YOU would be enough… if not more then enough of a “special tool”
and shouldn’t you have been working on that UB application
