# speedo not working

ok just got my car today which i bought.the speedo doesn’t work what is wrong?another thing it doen’t run to well.the engine has over 200 000km could it need a new head gasket.the water pump has been changed. someone help.thanks

hmmm it does have a rattling noise,i think it’s the timing chain.and i also don’t feel much power

ok that sound was from the exshaust leak,and the mounts are not good anymore . stupid me lol

remove the chain guide for the rattling noise, i changed my speedo, and then it works…(take the steering coloum thing to remove the trim.),change oil, check air filter, clean the MAF sensor…there should be more in dept reasons…but those are the easier ones…

check your speed sensor before you pull the gauge cluster … that could be the cause of your speedo failure

check the IACV and the speedo sensor

both those are known issues with the S13’s

If you would like, bring it by my shop and I can have a look at it for you

where is the speed sensor located? how can i tell if it’s bad.i will start with removing the cluster.

on the tranny, at the back… it’s held in by only one bolt and it sits at an angle. you can’t miss it… basically, it’s right under your shifter…
