First warm weekend and I’m already seeing riders wearing shorts, t-shirts, and sandles. C’mon dudes ride with your head. I know it gets unbearably hot with full gear on but even a 30mph crash with no gear will bring you weeks and weeks of road rash pain. Not worth it. Just ask anybody who “messed up”. At the hospital they use a wire brush to get the pebbles out of your skin. Not fun. Just a reminder, it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of time before you put er down.
Also there will be plenty of sportbikes showing up to the blessing run on the 27th at American Harley Davidson on Erie ave in North Tonawanda. Hope to see you there…

God ideas, though this is common sense, although people will do w/e they feel like doing.
It will be hard for you to get alot of support with 2 posts, and i remember them being a total fail.

im considering a bike for daily commute to and from work, and even though i know im going to sweat my ass off on some days, im still going to wear good gear… i laugh evertyime i see people not… when i was in FL i saw a dude pass me going 120 on a busa wearing shorts, a wifebeater and sandals

You don’t sweat your ass off in decent gear. There is plenty of stuff out there that offers good protection but still has enough venting to keep cool. The trick is to not slow down. 😃

with out a doubt it is going to be a summer of crashes. people are buying bikes to save on gas, this leads to a shit ton of newbs running around on two wheels. We will see many crashes this year, it is sad to say but people just don’t seem to get it. We had 4 crashes in 2 hours here in Monroe county last Friday night. It is going to be a long summer.

Several years ago freind crashed 'cuz of a little old lady. Broke his leg in several places. He said the road-rash was much more painfull and took much longer to heal than the leg injury. DRESS FOR WAR, pray for peace!

i must admit i was out on sat for a “cruise” down the 219 and i wore jeans and a sleeveless t-shirt. still wore my gloves and helmet of course but no jacket.

Going to be a LOT of stupidity going on with bikes, and a LOT of people learning a hard lesson or letting their families deal with a mess this year.
I’ve seen a BUNCH of squid out there already, and heard about almost a dozen deaths between Roc and Buf already this season.

And it’s especially sad because it’s such a stupid way to “save” money. If you ride and accept the risks because you love to ride fine. I had a bike from when I was 18 to about 25. But to ride just to save money is so stupid.
First, you spend $3000 EASY, probably twice that, just to get the bike, the license and the minimum gear.
Second, by the time you account for rainy days, or days where it threatens rain that you won’t commute with the bike you _might_ get 4 months worth of commuter riding in a year.
15000/miles a year (higher than average) /12 \* 4 months = 5000 miles worth of commuter riding.
25 mpg @ 3.70 = $740.
55mpg @ 3.70 = 336.
You saved $400 in gas and it will take you 7.5 **years** to pay off your bike investment of 3k. Figure 10+ years when you factor in registration and insurance on the bike. Probably 15+ if the bike needs super and your regular car runs on regular.

Im getting a bike for free, all it needs is a carb rebuilds, voltage regulator tires and then i need gear.
$500 investment.
Drive to have fun and save money while doing so. Win win situation.
I will always ride with full gear being a n00b.
So A Jacket either leather or otherwise, a good helmet, gloves, boots and denim?
What do you guys do for pants, if i ride this to work ill be rocking dress pants. ☹
