I am not knowledgeable in any way about foreign motors, but is this the motor used in Skylines? I work with a kid who has a Skyline motor in his S10. It’s a pretty neat little truck. ---

Nice build. I am impressed with your cutting and fitting techniques and the “It’s metal so I can work with it” attitude. One question, why change out the column? Would the 94 column frame work not fit with the 98 dash? :tup: to this build. ---

The 94 column bolts to the firewall/bracing way different, plus its wired differently. if you compare these two pictures you can see most of what I am talking about. plus the actual brace I drilled off each truck is very different: I am getting beat up on s10 forums. someone told me to step away from the welder. like wtf who are you? those welds are pretty mint for working with rusty metal and flux cored wire. Plus I havent cleaned any of the slag off yet. thanks for all the kind words guys :grouphug: ---

Plus I havent cleaned any of the slag off yet. Welcome to the internet. Everyone is an engineer/welder/master fabricator. People are always up my ass about the way I did things on my car. It’s annoying. I’d be a little concerned about the penetration on some of the welds, but nothing too worrying. Hell, if it breaks you can always fix it. In order to weld 7ga+ well you need a 220v MIG, bottom line. You can push it w/ a 110, but it’s not easy. Add in the fact that you’re using FC wire, and you’re bound to have welds that don’t look that great. ---

newman, your build =! my “build”. I always chamfer whatever I weld anything other than sheet metal, making mutliple passes if necessary. This lincoln welder (pretty sure its 140a)I am using burns it in there pretty good. I am not being cocky, but I have confidence/faith in my welding skills. After taking auto body at Alfred State and having welding classes in stick, mig, and tig, and a few years at John Holtz I have enough experience to get-r-done. But I will definitely keep an eye on the motor mounts though. That fire wall looks god awful, honestly. idk how I am going to make it look nice. Ill prob just overlap where the gaps are and weld it up. The rust is through the fire wall in a few spots. Ill probably just grind the rust off, replace where necessary and POR-15 it. We will see what this weekend brings ---

However, I’ve been thinking about your driveshaft a little bit and am a bit worried… How certain are you of the shaft’s concentricity? In higher gears that spins at or over the engine rpm, and a little out of balance is going to be certainly notable… ---

Yea I am definitely aware of that. If it wobbles bad it gives me an excuse to get the ford 8.8 sooner and get a drive shaft made up for real. I just want it driveable asap. I am working in my friends garage (with a dirt floor on 3/4 of it) with a parted out 240 and s10 sitting on his yard. I feel bad and want to get it wrapped up asap. ---

The drive shaft was a lot more square the first time I made it, but by the time I went to make it the second time the steel I was using to hold it true was already used. lol.
