Is the stock S13 Redtop SR20DET tranny (Besides clutch) strong enough to handle 400 horsepower? Or will I need new gears etc?

Should be able to handle that power. remember torque is what is going to destroy the tranny.

Ya, I looked into it too as I’ll be near that this year as well… most guys complain of it giving out at the 500 mark or so. But this is dropping the clutch at the track and what not. Everyday driving will be just fine.

A few guys swap in Z32 trannies with some major work.

Checkout [freshalloy.com](http://freshalloy.com), in 240sx advanced for tranny swap info. I believe Z33 trannys and t56s have been tried. Don’t worry till you break the stock one.
