# sr20det only starts with starter fluid and with no maf connected

Hey guys my sr20det redtop in a s13 still giving me some troubles.
The car will only start with the maf disconnected and with starting fluid. With the maf disconnected and no starting fluid i can get it to start for a few seconds then it will die.With maf connected the car fires in one cylinder but doesnt start completely.
Please help me.

check compression, fuel and spark and get back to me. I suggest to put down the starting fluid unless u want to put some new valves in… just saying.

No i dont run it on starting fluid, it just helps it start. When the car does start it runs fine but backfires when you rev, im guessing cuz of no maf.

btw start signal is disconnected and i think there a lil tomuch oil

sr20 never needs that damn fluid …
always check spark and fuel on all 4…
drop off the car to me if you like, ill getter sorted.

maybe maf, could be timing, plugged cat or dizzy problem. Need to check the basics first.

Ok i figured it out the bov was shut close by the adjustment screw causing it to not want to start with maf plugged in. With the bov now open(venting) at idle it starts and runs. Is this fine, the maf is connected on the end of stock intake tube.
