Bump bump on this oldass thread.
Anyone have any suggestions on the best way of going about joining a pipefitter apprentice program?
I see there’s openings in Syracuse, Or at least there was a posting by the state that they are looking for fill 12 positions by April, but that was posted in Nov.
I’d prefer to work around Buffalo, but eh…
So, any suggestions on this one?
I have formal Welding training, but no experience in the field.

Yeah, I’m trying to figure out which union we are (wny).
I think I have the number for it… Found it on yahoo yellow pages 😛
Is it in Orchard Park? (I would call but its kinda late :])

called the number in hopes of it being automated.
the message said it’s local 22, so I assume it’s what I’m after.
I suppose I’ll talk to them first thing in the AM.

No idea where it is but it can’t be too hard to figure out. I just started as a union man this year and while I don’t agree with alot of political stances unions take It has been one of the best things I could hope for. I make good money, I have a retirement plan and most of all Health Insurance.

My father is an industrial welder, and pipefitter. If you want a job in this town, your pretty much screwed. With all the big industry closing, like AAM, the market is totally flooded.

isnt there the place on California rd. you can get an app like every first tuesday of the month. my grandpa was talking to me a few months ago about it.

yup. its the Local chapter 22 of the plumber & pipefitter’s union. I have an orientation there in a few weeks.
