help! has anyone had a problem when rotating/changing tires with steel rims getting stuck on the wheel assembly/axle on their older Altima? I suspect the steel rims get rusted/corroded to the axle or something! I tried to change to winter tires yesterday, but I can’t even pry off the wheel! please help/offer suggestions… and on that note, are there any recommended shops for Alignment for Nissan? Thanks! diamond ---

have you tried spraying some wd40 around it, you’ll have to clean the brakes after, spray em with some cleaner to, just in case you get wd on your brakes, then hit the steel rim with a rubber malut ---

You just can’t get the lug nuts off? Get the penetrating oil made by Gunk, it works great. If that doesn’t work, heat up the nuts with a torch. ---

it;s not the lugs that are the problem- those I can take off… it’s the actual rim to the axle assembly… i did try WD40 to no effect… do you think Gunk penetrating oil will work? thanks, diamond ---

If you don’t want it to happen again, spread some copper or nickel based anti-seize on the face of the rotor where it touches the wheel. ---

Yep just knock it off. I use a 2X4 and hit the tire with the wood. Works every time, and doesn’t damage a thing. Oh yeah and leave atleast one lug nut threaded on, so that when you actually do get the wheel off, it doesn’t come crashing to the ground. :partyman: ---

I had this happen on my Altima, just slowly let the car down. The weight of the car will pop the wheels loose. ---

They are called studs not screws. I didn’t say drop the car. Slowly lowering the car will not damage anything. Before the weight of the car is completely on the wheel it should come loose. It’s a lot better than beating on the wheel. ---

Just kick the tire (using your heel), if you dont want it to happen again, get a metal bristle brush and brush the shit out the middle of your rotors (around the studs) Then brush the backside of the rim, this happens all the time. When I work in the tire Shop at Costco you should see how hard we have to hit some truck tires (especially dualies) car tires we just kick off.
