# Steering wheel shake @ 100km/h

Yeah there are so many things it could be you’ll need to go to a mechanic if you are not sure what to do.
Any of the suspension parts being loose / damaged / misaligned will do it.
Any imperfection of the rim / tire will do it (Including braking system / wheel hub).
And finally, any frame damage could do it. (Although unlikely if it’s intermittent).

When I did my front tension rods, a certain person - who I won’t name but
his (last)name starts with **J** and ends with **antos** - didn’t
torque down the bolts and I would experience the same shake above 80km/h.
So ther eare varous factors that could cause this shake:
- Steering
- Front suspension (control arms, tension rod, swaybar, etc.)
- Wheel (imbalanced or busted)
- Tire (dented or busted)
- Anything?
I doubt it’s your suspension since you haven’t touched them but ya never know.

Gonna be by the dealership in a couple days so I’ll see if they have any ideas or could take a quick look. I have a set of winter wheels so I might put them on to check if its a wheel/tire problem. If its not, I’ll have a mechanic check out the suspension.

Just an update: I was just at the Nissan dealer and I took the mechanic out on the highway to show him the problem. He had a look at the suspension for anything loose, broken etc and found nothing. The only thing that he and a couple other mechanics could suggest is that there’s an issue with one of the wheel bearings. Apparently they can get misplaced. The centrifugal force of the higher speeds pulls the bearings around making it unbalanced. The only way he could be sure is to spend time on it and take shit apart at $80/hour. He said he’d have a diagnosis after an hour plus the time/parts to fix it. Its a tough call what to do from here.
I asked about having a bent / flat spot in a rim and he said that if that were the case, it would happen at low speed as well and would pull the steering wheel to one side.
Shitty deal ☹
