# student loan consolidation

anyone know of any companies still doing this? I had to wait til all my loans came due, and now that they did it seems like no one is still doing this. or am i gonna have to wait til the economy improves a bit

I know a lot of banks have stopped offering federal consolidation, and if/when they do again it will probably be at less attractive rates than even a year ago. The government has a website you can check out re: direct consolidation loans in case you haven’t yet:

It can also depend on who holds your debt. For instance, while PNC doesn’t do federal consolidation, I believe they will still consolidate if you have PLUS/Grad PLUS/whatever other loans that aren’t from the wholly federal programs.

Finally, below is a link to a list of education lenders who are still actively doing loans. As you can see from the chart, many of them used to do consolidation and various other types of educational lending but have recently stopped those arms of their business. There are still a few listed as running consolidation business, so you might start with this list and go from there:
