I have a 96 Sidekick sport with the 1.8 and the car dies on the initial start up in the morning when it is cold outside. It will fire up and the RPM’s go to 2K then it dies. When I start it again it runs fine. Any suggestions??? I’m getting no codes and no check engine light. I put a new fuel filter in, but could it be the spark plug boots causing the problem since it has a coil pack on each plug and they are rarely changed. ---

If it’s not misfiring I doubt it would be the plug boots. A guess would be that your IAC motor might be gummed up and it’s sticking thus overcorrecting. That would be where I would start. ---

im with racerX on that one…take out the IAC valve and clean it with carb cleaner.
