y are the AFR’s so damn high??? in the one vid it shows them like 12.5-13 WOT!!! unless direction injection needs less fuel or something? ---

Detonation revolves around how the fuel burns _after_ the plug fires, preignition revolves around when it starts to burn _before_ the plug fires. Direct injection systems can run a bit leaner than normal(host of reasons why). Direct charge cooling effect is one of them.
