I bought tail light covers for my 94 forumla probably a few weeks ago…when i was up at Miracle Mile shopping center some cops came up and started making a huge scene about the people that tinted there tail lights…am i gonna get hasseled to??i see mustangs drive around here with black headlight covers all the time.does the law state that ne sort of tint is illegal or is it a certain amount just like on car windows?? ---

Darker than factory window tint is illegal in PA. I’m pretty sure tails are the same, but if you think about it, driving 5mph over the speed limit is illegal too. So use common sense. If you are looking to draw attention, don’t be suprised when it’s the 5-0, and I’m not talking about Mustangs. ---

yes they are illegal. i had mine actually tinted by slowbowtie on here. he did an awesome job. never had a problem with the po-po but they def are illegal. just remember this as a rule of thumb. anything that will make your car nice/faster is probably illegal in some cops eyes ---

How do you get your tails tinted? do you just use window tint? ---

Illegal. I put overlays on mine and my husband made such a stink about “drawing attention to yourself, giving them a reason to pull you” that I took them off ☹ ---

ya we were all parked and at the time i had my dads trans am…and they were making a huge stink about tinted tail lights…thats lame…o well ill run them till i get hasseled… ---

they _should_ pull you over for being a fucking ricer and blacking your taillights. (note: not you specifically, but anyone who thinks there’s a valid reason to obscure something that is used for signaling your actions to the drivers behind you.) ---

there is a spray on tint called Niteshade. But I would personaly do the black paint with more reducer and a nice clear. ---

night shades will turn out just as nice, you gotta buff them out when ur done with it. ---

i only put my headlight covers on when my car is in a local show or something… very very rarely you will see me driveing with them on and if i am its always and only during the day time… i havent had a problem with cops yet ---

I used niteshades spray on tint. If you don’t over do it, like window tint, It can make a car look alot better with out being dangerous. It dosent seem to make the slightest diffrence when my lights are on. So it looks better W/O obscuring anything. I used 3 coatings, others I know have put on 8-9 and it is almost as dim as the when people use the abs plastic covers. I’ve had it on my car for 2 years now and have never been bothered by the police for it. Even when I was pulled over for having a tinted cover over the licence plate. Or when I was pulled over for having my stereo “too loud” on 28, or well the point is cops never bothered me for the tinted lights, even after they have me pulled over. ---

so what exactly is the law? a certain amount of lumen’s must emit from the taillight/turn housing? if so just buy some damn silverstar turns when you tint and call it a day. But there are vehicles that are tinted from the factory…like my moms tb…her front turns are tinted along with the reverse light…not nearly as dark as the windows which carry 17% factory on hers ---
