Maybe you should put up an ad on craigslist saying “FREE TATTOOS”, explain your situation, and use that to build up a photo portfolio of your work. I’m SURE there are plenty of shit heads out there willing to get tattooed by someone with little experience, as long as it’s free lol.

if you walk into a shop, have a portfolio.
the excuse " i lost it, it was stolen, someone pissed one it etc" doesnt work.
they wont bring you on.
did you go to every single shop in buffalo?
if you didnt, then this thread is not needed.

Erie County is second in the country to San Francisco for number of tattoo shops per capita.
That means there is WAY too many here, 98% of them are shit holes.
I’m sure one of them will let you hang out.

lol there is a lot of people out there that just want a tat but i still need to pay for needles ans ink so im pretty cheap. ive went to a bunch of places around my house and they all said to get more pics. i could have gone to blue dragon but from what i heard…they suck ass. more pics were added

Apprenticeship is about paying your dues. You take out garbage and clean at first. You earn your education, they don’t just pay for your ink & needles because you smell good or have cool hair.

i do pay for my ink and needles. i said that i dont do them for free because i need to pay for the needles and ink.I charge for the needles i use and the ink plus a small fee ive never done a tat for more than 100, and that was a huge coverup

Not true. Cory Cudney is one of the best, if not the best, around and he’s not a great artist… on paper. On skin he’s an absolutely amazing artist.

you are aware that a portfolio doesnt have to be tattoos youve done… any drawings or paintings will do. a tattoo artist who wants to take on an apprentice wants to see his artistic ability not just pics of tats hes done. my recommendation would be to start drawing little sketches for a few hours a day colored and uncolored, create from your perspective what you think flash should look like… and include that in your portfolio…
