# Teh new project... like i need another

Picked it up pretty cheap. Guy rolled it over on a test drive!! Luckily the 2 guys were ok. The driver was only scratched up from the glass and the passenger was fine. The “roll-bar” in the top really did an excellent job protecting them.
Needs some wheels, got a front rotor that was busted, a front spindle that was busted, upper/lower core-supports, and some other small misc. stuff from honda. Gotta go pick everything up soon and get it to the frame shop.
The goal now is to put together an open-track day car/autox’r. I personally want to gut it bare, aluminum dash and one racing seat… but its just fantasy. Should be some big fun when its done!

Your officially my new hero, lol j/k. Your the 2nd person i’ve seen pick up a wrecked S2000 and fix it up. I guy local to me got one for under 10k with just front end damage. Got the new panels and lights for it, painted it some off-red color that was subtle but good looking, and he was back in business I see him all the time in it. Good luck on it and keep us posted! All else fails on the autox/track thing do Quik’s idea with a small block lol.

I see that was the one from up at Butler pre-owned. Damn!!!
They encourage aggressive test drives. I redlined the shit out of an STI up there last summer and the salesmen told me which twisty roads to take.

I’ve even seen some at beaver run, they seem like a ball to drive! The damage isn’t that bad really… i’ll keep things posted.
YES, it was butler-preowned car! The brought it back and, like everything, we had a first shot at it… JUMPED at that! The sales manager Steve is super cool. He’s had I believe 3 s2k’s in teh past and i’ve done all the work to them. He’d a bought it back, but the wife and kids come first.
why gut it? b/c its fucking retarded AND I LOVE IT! seriously, its not going to happen. It would have to be sick though to see some numb nut (\*me) hack a 20k dollar car to pieces. o ya, and small block? that is a VERY interesting possibility.

You need a Datsun Z car for that kit to work and I wouldn’t suggest an S2000 drivetrain in one-not enough torque to move a Z and all that fiberglass around with mucho gusto. I would suggest the S2000 drivetrain as a swap into my Starlet since it only weighs about 1800 pounds as it sits right now.

I was not thinking of using the Z car, I was thinking of that fiberglass body on hacked up structure of the S2000 (its a roadster so it would work good like this most of structure is down low), or maybe on a tubeframe chassis. 🙂 Its wouldn’t be the most blazingly fast, but it’d sure look awesome, thats for sure.

Like ol’ dirty wanting to put it in a Lotus 7!
MAYBE if i roll it over again on an open track day or something, then i’ll take the swap out and put it in something “go-cart” esc :bigok:

Even if you keep it stock for awhile for autox and whatnot, there is still a list of legal mods you can do to the whole car. Mainly you can change shocks, brake pads, front sway bar (definally go bigger, all the local guys did long ago), drop in air fiter, catback exhaust (long as it comes out where the stock one does). I’ve driven some of the local stock class S2000’s that are setup just as I mentioned, they are fucking deadly. With the right drivers on the right course you can run damn close to FTD (assuming your on race tires). Other than C5 Z06’s they are some of the only stock class cars that can pull something like that off. But yea i’d drive it for awhile like that, get use to it, then do whatever after that (LS1 lol).
Oh yea one more thing, don’t listen to Steve otherwise he’ll try to talk you into some GM V6 swap lol.

Iv’e watched them go around the track a ton of times and they look like a ton of fun. Easy to control, good power, good gears, etc. I’d like to check out the exact rules for staying in such class. I’ll probably do some mild stuff at first, enough to keep me in the class and then after a while go progressivly more nuts with it. Next year i’ll be first in line for my scca license!

I thought i started a thread about the s2k. Well almost f’ing 2 years later here’s progress:
Frame and everything underneath done, straight. A pillar done, windsheild in, used top in (definition of bringing the suck). Its been so long, I cant remember what else. It was quick and dirty b/c there’s no reason this car should be sitting around, i want to enjoy it.
…check out those 16s y0.
Also bagged the turbo plans and am going vortech b/c got a nice deal on it. So, full custom brand new turbonetics t3/ts04/t58 forsale.
