This is epic, and it’s one of many advances in the last five years that has me seriously considering what life will be like in twenty five years.

i wonder what would happen to the atom if they cut it off mid teleportation, where would it end up

AFAIK teleportation is instantaneous. You cannot stop the process in the “middle”.
