# temperature gauge question

last night i was driving, for over a hour, and my temperature gauge is usually in the between hot and cold, but last night, even after a hour my gauge was only one notch above cold, and when i had the heater on it went down to cold as i was driving. Thing is i was driving for over a hour, so the car should be warmed up by then…

I know it is odd, because usually a car would overheat but my car is doing the opposite

any suggestions?

Sounds like a thermostat issue to me.

It might be sticking, as in the coolant is always forced through the rad, which would keep it too cool in this case.

Assuming you’re not seeing any coolant leaks or puddles etc i’d recommend a new thermostat and a flush.

cheap and easy fix.

cool, going do that this weekend? i’ve changed a thermostat before in a mazda…and it was quite simple, just wondering if it is just as easy in a 240???
