So my friend John at Berg Racing in webster NY (who did the cage in my car) and another local guy put together an RX-8 to do the Continental Tire Series this year with, competing in ST. The car made it 7 laps before an unfortunate incident (or series of them) ended their season. He did such a great job prepping the car. Definitely, coming at you head on cant be fun. Its like those videos of the cars sliding on ice, that just keep piling up, only at a much higher rate of speed. Dan ---

I saw the first hit and was like “those pictures looked like a lot of damage for that hit”, then the second hit happened, and I was like “well now that makes sense”, then saw the third hit and went into “Ok now that’s excessive” ---

Yep, he was fine. The cockpit stayed very intact. I hear the windshield didnt even get cracked. EDIT: Its just a lot of time and money down the drain. Im guessing just hauling his big toter home and trailer to Daytona twice (once for an early season practice, and once for the race) cost like $7k in diesel alone. Dan ---

For those of you not wanting to watch 5 minutes of racing, start at 4:55. Looks like the guy that rear ended him got away with minimal damage too because I’m assuming it’s the car that sneaks by as he’s spinning. ---

They planned to compete the full year with just one car and no sort of backup? Not even a backup roller? 10 events, all over the Country, seems like a lot of racing and expenses without a plan B. ---

Im not sure they were going to do EVERY event, but definitely all of the east and central locations. There is only so much time or money to be had.
