I am pretty hot for the z28, it’s a drastic move. I agree Josh, just being 300 lbs lighter than a 4,120 lb ZL1 is not enough, its still roughly 3,800 aka porker

I agree. Thought they might supercharge it though to be comparable with the new gt500 numbers. I guess we will see what the magazine comparos tell us.

I like the new redesign and really enjoy the subtlety of the z28. Would be cool to see a Yenko Camaro.

I’m curious to see how they are going to price the Z/28 within the Camaro lineup. Is it going to be more expensive than the ZL1? Or less? I know the LS7 engine is $13995 at a dealer, not sure what the blower engine in the ZL1 costs. A loaded 2SS can go into the low $40’s and a base ZL1 can be had for low $50’s. Maybe somewhere between?

I was expecting the Z/28 to be priced between the SS and the ZL1, but with the price difference in engines I don’t know. If it was more then the ZL1 you’re talking $60K range, mind as well buy a Vette.

> The net result is a lap time—at an unspecified track, likely GM’s Milford, Michigan, **road course—three seconds quicker than the ZL1’s.**

The 'Maro ZL1 is already faster than the C6 Z51, Grand Sport, and Z06 (non-Z07 option).

I hate to speculate, but if it can pick up 3 seconds here [http://www.caranddriver.com/features/lightning-lap-2013-hot-cars-hot-track-hot-laps-feature-lightning-lap-2013-complete-lightning-lap-times-2006-to-2013-page-10](http://www.caranddriver.com/features/lightning-lap-2013-hot-cars-hot-track-hot-laps-feature-lightning-lap-2013-complete-lightning-lap-times-2006-to-2013-page-10) and run a 2:54.5 , it will be in nice company.

According to this article:

> It will top the Camaro lineup when it arrives in early 2014. Pricing hasn’t been announced.

> Lapping the circuit during a cool-down lap, it’s clear that compromise wasn’t a part of the team’s agenda. The car is tight and free of the rattles that often plague track-focused vehicles. **The Z/28’s best time on the Milford course is 1:53.71. That’s 2.87 seconds quicker than a ZL1 and 5.14 seconds quicker than the SS 1LE. And here’s where it gets personal: Engineers say the Z/28 betters their best lap time in a 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca by 5.34 seconds.**
>
> Oppenheiser says they think they can sell 3000 to 4000 Z/28s over the next two to three years and figures the cars should start showing up in showrooms late in the first quarter of 2014. The Z/28 is expected to be pricier than the ZL1, but firm numbers haven’t been set. **When your author asked Oppenheiser whether there is a driving principle that keeps him and his team on constant watch, he eloquently replied, “Yeah, to beat the shit out of anything Ford puts on the road. And that goes for the whole company from top to bottom.”**
