I might have to give that a try and learn to function that early in the morning. I have been feeling like a lazy piece of shit lately. You might be a ton stronger than I am though based on the weight difference and that would make swapping weights a pita. :mamoru:

When we roll non-striking we just wear gloves and mouthguards. We don’t often strike but when we do, we use the same stuff. We haven’t bought headgear yet, but soon.

Ready for the mma gym yet? 😃

Did you read my post? I found out Monday that I tore the connective tissue in my lower back at multiple places and they don’t think we can fix it. LOL I told you I was having issues ☹ I will still prob fight but that gym is too much of a drive.

So noone posted progress (before/after) pics?

Yeah, no striking for me in sparring, you can never really go “50%”. I’d probably knock someone out if I really connected.

You have to really know how and where to punch to knock someone out. Have any background in striking?

I’ve been punched by a few 230+lb’ers and when they don’t know what they’re doing it’s not very effective. I can’t stress enough how hard it is to knock someone out. My strongest hook (l & r) could do the trick, but it’d have to be right on the button and I’ve been practicing for quite some time now.

Yeah, getting hit in the nose is a HUGE fear for me. I’ve had it broken before and $4,000 later it’s still not perfect.

Plus, eating a few strong leg kicks can make you puke and limp for a week!

Yeah no doubt, intentional knees suck too. I’ve never been hit by a flying knee (pretty easy to see coming), but I did get shaken up by a superman “jab” once that was faked out as a flying knee.

Ugh sparring sucks, too bad it’s so awesome. Big ed, you interested in joining the buffalo training center with a few of us?

I don’t know how much “background” you’re talking about, but if it’s the art of punching stuff correctly, I am fairly certain I’ve got it covered. I’ve knocked a couple people out in full headgear. I think knocking someone out is a lot easier when you’re not trying to do it. When I get tired and begin to have less control of my body, that’s when I can’t really restrain myself as much and end up letting loose and have to stop. :grouphug:

Merits :

About 23 hours of boxing.

Grad Level II Krav Maga (more specifically, blue belt level)

Some BS rank in my old BJJ school (didn’t go by belts, not that this has anything to do with any type of striking)

About 2 months of Sambo, which again, has nothing to do with striking…

Word, a fellow Krav/Sambo guy. We’re the coolest. 😉

Krav is so vicious, I wish my Fiance would let me teach her. I’d feel a lot better about her walking to her car when I’m not around. You’re not in B-Lo any more are you?

Yeah dude thats what I said. I am in a lot of pain and im not into taking these pain killers they gave me especially if it is life long. I am going to try to see a different doctor next week if I can.

I really do not do striking unless in proper gear. They even have extra padded open finger striking gloves I prefer. No point in getting hurt/hurting someone in training.

Meh but the last combatives school I was at I knocked out two people in full gear in one day. If someone is exhausted and been takin a lot of blows its not that hard. One of the last times I went to the Chip strip(god I hate it so much) I one punch KO a guy that was trying to fight a friend of mine. A few speeders were there I think. LOL I am not a fan of fighting outside of the right AT ALL it was 100% self defense to be clear. It was still sweet though hahahaha

Krav is vicious as hell.

A lot of people count it out, but bottom line, if I was getting attacked, I’m going to fuck you up, no matter what you know.

lol @ self defense. You should try using that when you plow a drunk girl.

getting kicked in the right spot in the head hurts a lot more than getting punched in that same spot. Its much easier to get knocked out by a kick as well.

edit–\> Of course im assuming the person would be kicking you properly, in which case it should hurt a lot.
