i know theres a huge thread about it on one of the BMW forums, i just cant seam to find it. thread came up on another forum showing a jag done the same way, and they want info on the process
can anyone help me out ?

i would guess its stripped to bare metal…polished to a high gloss them may be clearcoted…i know there was am MR2 sround here with bare metal look…his was un polished though

cant polish and then clear. noting for the clear to adhere to it would just peel up

its not polished bare metal, and its not powdercoat, because neither of those would work well with the plastic / fiberglass parts
if i remember corectly its some kind of chrome paint thats aplied with specialized equipment and cost the guy like 5 digits to have done

this chrome paints been used on lexan for a couple years now. alot of rc cars. i know through the airbruh u had to spry it in thin thin coats

if you’re looking for the paint [www.alsacorp.com](http://www.alsacorp.com) carries it. It’s only good if you don’t plan on having it in the sun, the Chrome M3 is now the “gold” m3… it was left out in the sun and started to yellow. The car is going to be repainted a different color if it hasn’t already.
His name is Chris and he lives just outside of toronto. He also has a 360 Modena and F430 in his garage.

THe paint process itself isn’t that difficult, it’s all the prepwork (as with most paintjobs) that’s the most crucial. With this kind of paintjob it’s obvious that any flaws will be magnified.

I’ve got some of the Alsa paint at my shop- I was going to do some projects with it.
Stuff aint cheap, and a job like that would cost at a bare minimum, 3-4g’s
I’m doing a couple projects now, I’ll post pics when they are done.
Basically, you paint the car black-then wet sand and buff to a perfect finish. then apply the chrome paint, and re clear, using a special clear coat.
if anyone wants anything done in this finish, LMK.

Yeah saw them using this paint on one of the car building/re-doing shows. . .looked pretty sweet, lol at the gold m3 though!
