I’ll donate too. As far as making it a pay site, I would definitely pay, but I don’t know that I really have a preference which way to go, that’s why I haven’t voted.
And a BBQ sounds good!
My wife mentioned doing some 50-50 raffles. Not sure how that would work, maybe PayPal the money and assign people e-tickets (a number) and use Excel or a simple program to pick the winner, then PayPal the winnings.

DS this convo is turning seems like its turning into a personal thing.
I’m not saying you are broke and won;t pay or are all talk. Like Whitey stated there are 180 members on here regularly. How many have looked at this thread? about 13 people? Now if those are the only 13 that cared, 13 times 20 is 260. That is a fraction of what site currently needs to run and no where near enough to cover the costs of the upgrades, thus whitey gets stuck again ☹
Now that 13 is just an example. You also have to figure the people who will donate when they see whitey and they are not one of the regulars that are always out doing stuff with the people from the site. So thats more money not coming in IF it even comes in.
I just wanted to clear up that I’m not fighting and AGREE that something needs done I just don’t see it as simple.

Well I mostly lurk, but I post occassionally and enjoy everything on this site. 20 bux a year isn’t that bad, but as far as covering all your expenses, even though I’m sure you’ve looked in to this, I know there are some more companies in the area that cater to car enthusiasts. You could look in to some of them to help sponser the site a little more.
Also, as far as scaring new people away, I would just get a bunch of stickers made for the site, like a ton, and just mail one to each person that signs up for the year subscription. It’s not much, but sometimes the idea of someone feeling like they can represent something they are paying for is enough of an edge to get them to subscribe.

sponsers are a pain. and also this board has 180 or so daily members form a specific location. turbo buik probably has over 3000 members all over the country. sponsers pay for hits, and im sure that pittspeed has nowhere near the hits needed to get sponsered.
also to answer the question directly, Whitey is looking for sponsers as we speek. he just asked 180 of them and seems to just be getting turned down left and right :sad:

one point id like to make that i did not see touched on.
I know you want to do video hosting, and that will cost some bandwith.
but, do you feel you’ll still have a need for increased bandwith based on the “new” member count, if you enact a “subscription service?”
I’m for whatever, but just something i thought of

with the subscription service comes alot of improvements, and with people donating and/or subscribing, whitey would be able to afford a better hosting plan with more bandwidth and space.
and that would more than likely be able to support vid hosting

I have no problem pitch’n $20.00. But it will cut down on new members, Most people won’t pay a dollar if they are required to. As for more toys and eyecandy :dunno: I’m cool with what we got. Why dig yourself a deeper hole? Like I said $20.00 is no problem :blanyer:
