For what?! So they have more space to shoot and rob each other? Or so they have something to vandalize and ruin? What a crock. It would be worthless spending as it would be deteriorated in a year.

this is from what i’ve read.
years ago the hill was nice…
when mellon arena was built it relocated a little under 10K residents & 400+ businesses.
this caused the hill to rapidly decline…due to the arena taking residents & business away, they were supposed to help out the community which is understandable, & it wasn’t followed through on.
i think all this BS thats going on now is people remembering the past & not wanting the same thing to happen & things to get even worse…you’re thinking how can they get worse, the hill is a shit hole…well trust me it can get worse…go to camden, or AC, in NJ.
if something came into my neighborhood, walmart, arena, mall, etc… & my neighborhood went to shit & my home & property plumitted…id be pissed(& if you say you wouldn’t, you’d be lying)
If that company wanted to rebuild I’d argue too…personally i wouldn’t have stayed in the first place but i can still understand.
now the part about the windows…thats stupid & funny @ the same time.
stupid that they are arguing for it…funny that the designers designed it with no windows on the hill side.

who the hell cares. do any of you live in the ghetto. you can bring the kids out of the ghetto but you cant bring the ghetto out of the kids. i say build a fence around the hill district and lock the gates.

Mexican war streets back in the day was an upper middle class area. there is no
stadium/arena that demolished homes. It’s a hell hole now.
It’s the residents fault for having no care.

Mellon doesnt have anything to due with buildings not being taken care of and looking like absolute shit because of it. Mellon also has nothing to do with people not being able to go through that area w/o having to worry about getting robbed/shot etc. supermarkets and other buisnesses have come and gone way after melon was built and they dont last because of crime and the fact that ppl are afraid to go there and shop (and how can u blame them). the ppl that live there are only to blame.

i’m not justifying it i’m just saying what they are arguing about.
& to the contrary of what you said…if you remove that many residents & business it will depress an area… which would then cause all the negative to grow.
towns around where i grew up in NJ are going through it now…not due to an arena, but business & residents are leaving property is declining causing unwanted types to move in…its just a downward spiral.
some have been able to rebound with business re-growth, but others haven’t

agreed… whenever i HAVE to drive through the hill, its rolling stops at the stop signs, the XD is on my lap, and the throttle gets a good workout.
Shit i blew a stop sign where there were a bunch of hoodrats hanging out, right in front of a police officer and they did not do shit… they understand too.

really…i don’t have a problem going through there @ all… same with e-lib, garfield, homewood, wilkinsburg, etc…
i actually cut through homewood everyday on my way home, to avoid traffic.

well by this statement are you saying that the hill already went through this downward spiral and all the unwanted types have already moved in, forcing many of the good residents out? if thats the case, then they are in no position to demand anything, because they havent earned the right to. and they shouldnt be surprised that no buisnesses want to aid in the development to an area that the ppl do nothing to help themselves. sorry man, i have no sympathy for ppl like that.
