Pretty weird story. Guessing he’ll probably argue justified since he was the one attempting to get away from the altercation and the crazy bike guy was the one hanging on to the car. Should be interesting as they get more witness testimony.

This part is interesting too, at least in his defense.

You just had to ram some trees to get a guy off your car. Not sure how many reasonable people would stop right there and give the crazy guy another chance to come after you. Can you really consider it hit and run if you stop less than a block away? Who was this “closely related” person who called 911? Were they in the car? Whole lot of questions have to be answered here.

the silver lining here is that even if it isnt as we are assuming it went down, at least this will keep this guy out of major office from now on.

Seriously that was the first place I ever went over 180 mph. 🙂
I can’t believe a guy so focused on traffic safety would do this. :lol:

How do you not personally call the police after something like this? Not to mention getting a police report so your insurance can fix your banged up car.
Even if the bike guy was a wacko, can you drive your car into them? Maybe if he thought his life was in danger I guess he could, but come on this happened in Canada, not Texas. haha

^ Exactly. I’ve been in shouting matches at an intersection before. If the other guy tries getting in my car, then continues to hold on as I drive away, I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing and rub his ass out against a tree/mailbox/parked car. 🙂

So if you get in your car and try to leave an altercation, and the person grabs onto your car trying to get your door open it’s murder when you drive away with them hanging onto your car? Not in the eyes of the law of NY, and I doubt Canada either. The person withdrawing or fleeing is always going to be in the right. Now if he got in his car and then proceeded to run the biker down that’s a whole different story.
It’s cool how fast people pass judgment without really knowing any of the facts.
I’m not claiming I know either, but I’m not calling him a murder or innocent, just speculating to different ways this may have happened.

What did I say? Seriously… Did I pass judgment at all? Did I condemn one party over the other?
I made a general statement; the only thing I can do without full knowledge of the facts. You seem to be the one looking at this in black and white with your example above.
If the driver was negligent or acted in malice he should be punished accordingly, if not, then he should be exonerated.

I wonder though at what point does the biker go from hanging onto the door trying to open it, to holding on for dear life. If the guy stopped the car, I’d bet the biker would have let go and gone on his way. I doubt be **had** to smash the guy into things to the point of death to get away.
Why not just punch the biker in the face or hands and drive away. No damage to your car or death.
