> And  that they’re using the old EPA test method. Since hybrids were basically designed just to ace that test getting a 35mpg fleet average shouldn’t be any problem at all. No wonder the car manufactures backed off their big protests. This is looking more and more like feel good patting yourself on the back politics and less about actually cutting our consumption.

The ability to do research comes with my job… I just happen to be an “auto enthusiast” too, so switching from medical sites to auto ones is easy… lol

And FWIW, I’m a registered independent, have owned a permit and regularly fired rifles; replaced all my lights with compact fluorescents, have a new energy-star furnace, encourage recycling, and burn through lots of gasoline in my “Munro”. :beer2:

And personally, I think it’s asinine that politicians sell the great unwashed on CAFE as a “feel-good thing”, despite the fact that it doesn’t really work as intended. I’ve gotten alot of comments that CAFE has indeed saved oil/gas, and yet noone can counter the fact that we’re importing more oil and selling more gas than ever.
