This has happened to me on more than one occaision, so i am thinking it may be a way out of speeding tickets. I haven’t had a front plate on my vehicle in over 4 years. I have never been pulled over for it… I have however, recieved several front plate tickets. Every time i recieved a NFP ticket, i had been pulled over for speeding. If an officer pulls you over, especially on the thruway, he is probably going to write you a ticket… i was definitely going to get a speeding ticket this morning until i told the officer that i had 10 points on my license (not true) and that another ticket would result in me losing it. So he came back with a NFP ticket and told me to be on my way… Chances are, if i had a front plate on, i would have gotten a speeding ticket. Of course, being polite helps greatly. A counterpoint to this argument is a once that i can recall i was pulled over and the officer said “well there are 2 things i could have written you a ticket for: no front plate and speeding, but i just gave you a speeding ticket”… maybe if i had a front plate on there i would have gotten off with nothing? i dunno… just some food for thought. and for 73gia/audisniper: i have a lotus elise. The only place I’ve ever been pulled over for NFP was tonawanda/kenmore, once in my old car and also last summer. I was speeding both times, and both NFP tickets were dropped :tup: ---

never have been pulled over in the superduty for it. even went to Canada. ---

Ive gotten tickets for both before at the same time, I doubt its saving you anything. It gives cops a excuse to pull you over even if you havent done anything which I rather not deal with. If you roll through a town like angola, kenmore, village of hamburg with a small police force that enforces everything your going to get a ticket for front plate if you have been speeding or not. ---

As much as I hate to say it I have to agree with Newman on this one. I have not ran a front plate since 1998. And I dont think I will ever run one. I have been pulled over so many times for speeding and they always give me a No front plate ticket as a break. I’ve been pulled over for no front plate. I wasn’t speeding or driving wrecklessly. I was going 35 in a 35 through Corfu and the cop got me for the plate. I just showed up to court with the plate on and it was thrown out. Just tell the cop, that your plate bracket was broken in a parking lot and you are waiting for the dealership to get you a new one. ---

When I had to go to court in Kenmore I got there early with a digital camera, found 2 cars without front plates parked in front of the damn courthouse, and took pictures of them. Upon showing these pictures to the DA, one of the cars, a red Jeep belonged to him :lol: The ticket was dropped immediately. ---

I would take the front plate off of my car, but after 116k miles it probably isn’t a good idea. I need that massive intercooler to get all the air it can, you know. ---

once in the civic, i was open header at the time getting pulled over for no front plate. i didn’t even have the plate with me and the trooper was like, well just get it on there so we don’t have to do this again lol. no ticket either 😃 ---

my friend got pulled over a while ago cause of not front plate on the thruway and the cop asked him y he dont have one on and he said casue it make his car look like crap and the officer said “ok then just put it on take a picture of it and send it in and ur ticket will be dropped” needless to say ticket was dropped ---

Yeah, you can’t do this anymore now. It is an immediate $90.00 fine, I believe. You also stillhave to show up to court to show them that it is on now. I do not believe that they drop it anymore.
