yeah I drive about 40 miles on the thurway everyday and trying to merge makes me want to kill myself.
If it isn’t some fuckwad that wants to do 30 in the merge lane, Its another fuckhead pacing you when you try to get on or another retard trying to fly up the right lane with his mad skillzzz and wing. (this refers to retards on a thurway not using the MIDDLE LANE)

One time i talked to an older guy who thinks its his duty to be in the left lane and “slow down you hooligans” who want to do 70 on the thurway.

some guy in a truck with a huge trailer almost smashed into my car just 5 minutes ago. i seriously shouldve let him hit me. once again i had to hit the brakes pretty good. he had like a 1/4 mile before his lane turned into my lane. i dont see why he couldnt have just let me go by him. i have real bad luck with merging assholes.

Because he doesnt have to??? I don’t think you see the point everyine is trying to make. If your exit is coming up and you are in the right lane you are just going to have to let people in they have the right of way. Regardless of your faster car…

what makes you think they have the right of way?? i consider the merging lane to be like a yield. they dont need to be going 70 in that lane and just bust over into my lane just because they’re too lazy to slow down a bit and go behind me

That lane is for people merging so they can get up to speed and get into the other lanes and for people slowing down to get off. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

i’ll toss a rant in here.
2 lane highway. Open road, no entrances or exits. Majority of the traffic in the right lane is doing 65. I am in the left lane doing 70. Check my mirro and see someone right up on my ass, they continue to stay on my ass until there is an opening in the right lane. I move over to the right lane and **SO DO THEY.** It’s like they want to go fast, but when there is noone in front of them they become pussies about it and just lurk behind me. So then i move back into the left lane to pass and they still just hang on my ass.
I FUCKING HATE THAT.

you would think that would work, but they are too chicken shit to go 70, so even if they pass me, they still wont take it upt to 70, and i will then be stuck behind them. If i am driving something fast i usually just lose them…

what about on a 2 lane road?
I’ve seen plenty of yield signs on onramps… never seen one in the far right lane on an expressway/highway though

If you’re already on the highway then you legally have the right of way. The person merging is legally obligated to give you the right of way, even if it means slowing down to a complete stop.

In the real world you have to time things. Like it or not, some times you do have to slow down or speed up to help someone else merge safely. You’re not the only one on the road.
It seems like so many people turn into ten year olds when they get behind the wheel. I’m guilty of it too, but I try to remind myself that I’m acting like a child and laugh at my _whiny voice_ “Hey no budging!” attitude.

I hate playing leap frog on the thruway, which is often the result of that. Dumb muthafucka’s that can’t hold a constant speed…
I’ll usually handle that a few different ways, depending on the situation. I might punch it and put a hundred yards between me and them. If there’s traffic, I may try to get a car in between me and them. One fun one that works surprisingly well is to toss a couple of hard swerves for no reason. They’ll wonder WTF is wrong with you and back off. :tup:

That i can understand in a 2 lane road but when there are 3 lanes you can expect people wanting to merge from that lane, its always going to happen. so i just stick to the middle or left until i need to get off. It just makes sense to me i dunno?

i agree with ya there. it’s just those exits like the millersport north exits that piss me off. i will stay in the middle lane until i wanna get off on that one. but some people come on from the sheridan ramp and it’s sometimes hard to get over there.
and another thing that i hate is when people driving behind you cant wait to take the exit ramp, they will just go before the lane even begins. so i would have to end up waiting for their ass to go by before i can go on. they cant wait 4 seconds. sometimes i have to slow down pretty good and the guys behind me will get real close to my ass, which i dont like at all

according to the driving manual you need to slow down for the people merging from the ramp. That lane is for people merging so they can get up to speed and get into the other lanes and for people slowing down to get off.
