being funny is a subjective term. I may say something that someone may potentially find offensive, but only mean it in jest. You may not laugh at it, but my intention for it within reason to be funny.

true, funny is subjective, but Imus’ comments were said with the intent to be funny by reinforcing outdated and socially inacceptable stereotypes.

People need to fucking relax. Do I demand an apology when Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, or Carlos Mencia goes up on stage and uses the word “cracker” 1,000 times? Certainly not. All he said was “nappy headed hoes”, how is that even deemed racial? People are assuming it was only in reference to the black girls, when in fact the majority were white. People hear the word “nappy” and OMG Imus is a racist. Newsflash people, everyone makes racist comments! These girls are now acting like something was taken away from them, and they will never be the same. I’m sure everyone of them were called a “hoe” or “slut” at one time in their life. But now that its somebody famous, and they smell the chance at publicity or even a settlement it’s completely different. Howard Stern makes worse comments than this on an hourly basis and no one says shit to him. I just don’t see the big deal.

it wasnt really racist then but would be now that everyone is super sensitive.
funny thing is the white girls on the team were offended by the remarks but their not black, maybe imus should have said nappy headed hoes and redneck hoes for equallity. j/k the media really ran this story into the ground hopefully something happens soon so we can get a new story.

Al Sharpton needs to get a real job and become a real productive member of society, not try to tear it down on a daily basis.

I think the problem is that when an african american comic says “cracker” they are saying it to be funny. I honestly believe Imus is a biggot and believes that blacks are nappy headed and women are hoes. He has also complained about “jewish management” at cbs and that they are “money grubbing”. His show has been cancelled from MSNBC and I suspect that CBS is going to drop him in a week.
If you really feel that way about Chapelle and Rock, please, start a crusade. There are obviously others on this board and in this country that feel the same way you do.
Al Sharpton needs a real job… well, that is very true. I often think he and the NAACP are kind of like the abulance chaser lawyers that are just trying to cash in on something.

you do realize the africans were sold into slavery by their own, and also were enslaved by their own right?
When a tribe conquered another they enslaved them. When the europeans came along, the more powerful tribes would barter their enslaved folk away.
anyway, it’s ashame the africans, and europeans enslaved certain tribes of africa, but me personally i could give two shits. My family did not arrive in this country till after the civil war
and its people like you being an apologist is what is prolonging our society from moving forward from shit that happend 150 years ago.

which is why organizations like the naacp need to go away
unless you were born in Africa, and immigrated here, youre not an african american. if you’re black and you were born here, you’re an american, take some fuckin pride in it.
